Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Wash mushrooms.

  • Step 2

    Remove stems and chop.

  • Step 3

    Brown sausage, stems and onions.

  • Step 4

    Drain well.

  • Step 5

    Mix sausage mixture and stuffing with enough mayonnaise to hold together.

  • Step 6

    Place caps in baking dish, fill with sausage mixture.

  • Step 7

    Cover and chill.

  • Step 8

    These can be made a day ahead.

  • Step 9

    At serving time, preheat oven to 450.

  • Step 10

    Bake 10 minutes.

Tips & variations

  • To accompany steak, use 8 very large mushrooms. Bake 15 minutes.
